In the centenary year of Ireland’s 1916 Easter Rising a two day international conference exploring the impact of this rising will be held at the University of Melbourne on the 7th and 8th of April 2016.

Ireland’s Easter Rising impacted not just in its own country but across the globe and to examine this impact the School of Historical and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne and Newman College, in collaboration with the Irish Studies Association of Australia and New Zealand (ISAANZ) and the Community, Identity and Displacement Research Network (CIDRN) at Victoria University, are pleased to announce an international conference with keynote speakers including Guy Beiner (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev), Roisin Higgins (Teeside University), and Fearghal McGarry (Queen’s University Belfast).
