In addition to the opportunities for students to connect with the community and employers in many different ways as part of their degree such as field trips, public lectures, internship and study abroad and exchange programs, many grants and awards are also available to assist students with extending their learning experience into the wider community. We refer to this kind of activities as Knowledge Transfer, one of the key strengths of the Melbourne Model and benefits for University of Melbourne students.
This year’s Dream Large Knowledge Transfer Student Grants were awarded to 19 different student projects ranging from $1,400 to $5,000. Irrigation Systems in Vietnam, developing a training module to help raise awareness on women health in Kenya, developing a sustainability club to aid young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and Engineers without Borders are just some of the projects students are working on this year.
