In February 2008 the Information Futures Commission released a consultation paper: “Scholarly Information in a Digital Age: choices for the University of Melbourne.”
We invite you to read and respond to this paper.
On this web site, you will find a ‘commentable’ version of the paper. To see a complete table of contents, go to the shaded box at the end of a page and click the “filed under consultation paper” link.
The Consultation Paper is organised in four sections:
- Introduction, outlining the scope of the Commission’s deliberations and the purpose of this Consultation Paper
- The Changing Environment considers how changes in society and technology, changes in scholarly practice, and the public mission of universities impact on the place and use of scholarly information.
- Melbourne’s Place Today outlines the history and current state of scholarly information at the University, and examines how other institutions compare and changes they are undertaking.
- Summary Outlook and Strategic Choices examines our aspirations and the questions they raise for the future of our scholarly information, infrastructures and spaces.
