Oxford University Press is pleased to announce that from Monday 22 December its journals and many online products can now be accessed using Shibboleth by subscribing institutions who are members of the UK Access Management Federation.
Shibboleth is a system used by libraries to control access to online resources. Library users in institutions that use Shibboleth can now access the full text of all Oxford journals, and online resources such as Oxford Reference Online and Oxford English Dictionary using their institutional usernames and passwords.
Other online products that are compliant with Shibboleth are Oxford Scholarship Online, Who’s Who, Dictionary of National Biography, Oxford Islamic Studies Online, Oxford Language Dictionaries Online, Electronic Enlightenment, and Grove Art and Music Online.

Many of our online products are now compliant with Shibboleth, and we are now working towards making the remaining products compliant.’
A key benefit of Shibboleth is that users can move between different Shibboleth-enabled websites and services and be recognized by each one without having to sign in each time, known as ’single sign on’.
Shibboleth also reduces the need for users to maintain multiple username and passwords.
