Ejournals in the catalogue

Our tests were very successful so we began loading ejournal and database records into the catalogue last week. We now have over 8,400 ejournal titles added from thirteen database sources and expect to add more than 50,000 ejournal titles from over 300 sources by the time this project enters its maintenance phase in July 2009.

When this project is complete a catalogue search for a journal title or ISSN will show all the holdings available in both print and electronic format, usually on a single record. In addition, database records will be added to the catalogue and will be returned in relevant search results.

We plan to add our subscribed publisher packages first (Such as Wiley Interscience), then add our aggregator packages (such as Expanded Academic) and finally the locally created packages and free ejournals where possible. We have now loaded the ejournals from the following database sources:

Next we add the AIP packages and then keep working through our list. We will post an update on our progress here every month or so.
