From this Easter break (April 9th 2009), the University Library is trialling a new self service option for library patrons. You can now extend the due date(renew) of your overdue library books, as long as :
• the item is a 28-day or 90-day loan.
• the item is less than 7 days overdue.
• you have not reached or exceeded $15 in fines on your library record
• there are no holds or recalls on the items you wish to renew
• you are not trying to renew the items more than 4 times
High-use items—such as 2-hour, overnight, or 7-day loans—cannot be renewed if overdue.
Please note that when overdue items are renewed fines are added to your library record. Fines must be paid in full once you reach the $15 limit. It is the responsibility of borrowers to know the due dates of their items and manage their library records accordingly. You can view your library record online, including due dates and outstanding fines.

As classes don’t resume until April 20 I was hoping to renew items until then.Unfortunately I am only being given 1 day extra each time I renew and can only renew twice more which still leaves me short by 2 days. Can anything be done about this?
Regards,Helen
The renewal period can be shortened for a number of reasons which you may not be able to see in the catalogue yourself. The staff at the circulation desk will be able to investigate your record and let you know why this is happening. Contact them by phone on 8344 0444 or by email through the Student Admin system.
This is a great change. Thank you!
