Abstract
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE captures two moments in time revolving around one picture frame.
SUNDAY follows painter Georges Seurat in the months leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, "A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte". Consumed by creative hunger and his need to “finish the hat”, Seurat's artistic ability thrives while his love diminishes, not realising that his actions will reverberate over the next one hundred years.
From the award–winning duo behind Into the Woods, this stunning masterpiece merges past and present into beautiful, poignant truths about life, love and the creation of art.
