Justice

Justice, human rights & peace

for humanity and the planet

Action for Justice and peace are an integral part of Christian life. In this, Christians act ecumenically across traditions, and also with people from a variety of beliefs and political conviction.

Students are well placed to join with other clubs and societies.

Action and discussion concerning justice within the university is also possible.

Occasional

Occasional happenings, special days or political events can provide the opportunity of a witness for justice, human rights or peace.

Support for refugees, ‘Make Poverty History’, links with the Human Rights network of the university, a response to global warming, etc.

We hope to bring university studies into conversation with the threats facing the planet:

  • Vigils (Hiroshima day)
  • forums (Poverty Week forum on education)
  • action (advocacy for refugees)
  • groups (environment)

We are committed to making links with students through clubs and societies, to take seriously the issues facing Student Unions, to create opportunity for the question of affordable accommodation to be addressed.

We will work in association with neighbouring congregations.

We are committed to solidarity with other groups, seeking international contacts, and supporting campaigns, such as Make Poverty History and iCAN (International Campaign for the Abolition of Nuclear Weapons).
