Malaria remains an enormous global problem with huge mortality, morbidity and economic cost to the poorest people of the world. Inspired by Bill and Melinda Gates, the world has seen a huge increase in resources directed to research and application of current methods for control and a renewed call to strive for eradication of malaria. Professor Brown will speak of his own research addressing the devastating consequences of malaria in pregnancy and comment on global and local efforts for malaria elimination.
