Retirement is a major life course transition, and whether to extend Australians’ retirement age is a topical issue addressed by the current Government. formulate informed policy, it is important to understand what retirement (or working longer) would mean to Australians. This study utilises the national panel data of HILDA surveys to examine how retirement has impacted on Australian’s physical and mental well-being for different genders, occupations, socio-economic strata, ethnic groups etc. Analysis is limited to Australians with working capacity.
