Seminar Room 405A, Level 4, 207 Bouverie Street, Carlton
Kiusiang Tay-Teo BPharm (Hons) MPubHlth is a PhD candidate at the Melbourne School of Population Health and a research fellow at Deakin Health Economics.
This PhD completion seminar will discuss the findings from the candidate’s thesis. The thesis aims to inform cannabis prevention policy in Australia, by examining the economic merits of three preventive interventions:the ‘Gatehouse’ school-based intervention, cognitive behavioural therapy for dependent cannabis users, and random roadside drug-testing (RDT) program in Victoria. The first two interventions were evaluated using a validated Markov model and the RDT program was evaluated using decision-analytic modelling. The cost-effectiveness evidence was then considered alongside contextual factors.
