12.30-1.30pm, Wed 17th June 2015
Seminar Room 515, Level 5, 207 Bouverie Street, Carlton
Professor Colin MacDougall, Professor of Public Health and Executive member of the Southgate Institute for Health, Society and Equity, Flinders University; and Honorary Principal Fellow, Jack Brockhoff Child Health and Wellbeing Program, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, The University of Melbourne
In this seminar, Professor MacDougall will argue that an Ecological Public Health has developed combining evidence about climate change the New Public Health’s focus on social determinants; and can be underpinned by children’s rights. He will present how we can situate the increasing problem of the place of children in natural disasters within an Ecological Public Health and use political theory to help overcome the powerful doubt sowers who lay siege to scientific evidence.
