12.30-1.30pm, Wed 28th March 2018
Seminar Room 515, Level 5, 207 Bouverie Street, Carlton
Professor Anne Kavanagh, Chair of Disability and Health & Dr Allison Milner, Senior Research Fellow, Melbourne School of Population & Global Health
People with disabilities in Australia fare worse across a range of social, economic and health related indicators. These inequities are the focus of a range of policies and programs at both a state and federal level. A major challenge to understanding the effects of these programs and policies is how disability has been conceptualised and measured by both policy makers and researchers. This presentation will describe key issues in the measurement of disability in the Australian context, specifically in relation to employment research and policies. Anne and Allison will provide an overview of how we have approached the measurement of disability by discussing a range of projects on employment and mental health.
