Domestic and family violence is a major public health issue causing high levels of morbidity and mortality, particularly for women of child bearing age. This presentation will give an overview of the problem, demonstrate the need for health systems to step up to the challenge, and outline the research agenda of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence for Safer Families.
