CIMH Leadership and Management Workshop Sept 09 – Closing Soon
Leadership and Management Training for RANZCP Advanced Psychiatry Trainees, 19 -20 September 2009
CIMH are offering a two-day leadership and management training workshop for advanced psychiatry trainees. The aim of the program is to offer high quality mental health leadership and management training that will enable trainees to meet the RANZCP requirements.

CIMH 2009 Professional Development Programs – ausMHLP and iMHLP
CIMH development programs ausMHLP and iMHLP are currently underway. These programs are offered to mental health practioners and managers who are interested in mental health reform at an organisational, system or policy level.
The Australian Mental Leadership Program (ausMHLP) is open to individuals in Australia and focus on issues of relevance to the Australian context.
The International Mental Health Leadership Proram (iMHLP) is open to individuals interested in international mental health reform.

Media Release: Dr Rebecca Bentley on Mitigating Negative Health Outcomes of Vulnerable & Precarious Housing (July 14th, 2009)
Dr Rebecca Bentley and colleagues were recently awarded a VicHealth (Victorian Health Promotion Foundation) Project Grant to investigate the mitigating negative health outcomes of vulnerable & precarious housing. This exciting project will bring together researchers from several different institutions who will collaborate to investigate this project. Media Release: KCWHS PhD Candidate Amanda Cooklin Comments on Paid Maternity Leave (May 13th, 2009)
Paid maternity leave will increase the value our nation places on paid and unpaid work of mothers according to University of Melbourne researcher Amanda Cooklin.

A new McCaughey Centre publication is now available on our website, at http://www.mccaugheycentre.unimelb.edu.au/publications/searchpublications. This report, entitled Something to Take Notice of: Exploring the value and challenges of peer-interviewing as a participatory research method was authored by Dr Rosemary Mann and Dr Deb Warr of the McCaughey Centre.
McCaughey Centre News 23-Mar-09: Professor Elizabeth Waters named Jack Brockhoff Chair of Child Public Health
Professor Elizabeth Waters of the McCaughey Centre was appointed the Jack Brockhoff Chair of Child Public Health at an event held on Monday 23 March at the University.
Members of the Brockhoff Foundation, the University of Melbourne and community partners gathered to celebrate the appointment of Professor Waters, who joined the McCaughey Centre in 2007 as a Professorial Fellow, and is also the Coordinating Editor of the Cochrane Public Health Review Group. Professor Waters’ recent research has focused on a range of issues within child public health and wellbeing and strategies for knowledge translation and exchange. Read More
McCaughey Centre 16-Apr-09: Communities in a Changing Climate
The Communities in a Changing Climate forum was hosted by VCOSS in conjunction with the McCaughey Centre and took place on February 25 2009. The event was attended by over 100 community sector, local and state government, academic and business representatives. Through presentations, workshops and discussions the forum delved into the social and equity implications of climate change, as well as climate change policy, and the role of the community sector in responding to the enormous challenges it presents. McCaughey Centre 06-Mar-09: Climate Change and Community Engagement: Benefits, Challenges and Strategies
Researchers at the McCaughey Centre have recently completed a report commissioned by the Victorian Department of Planning and Community Development entitled Climate Change and Community Engagement: Benefits, Challenges and Strategies.
The report was prepared by Professor John Wiseman, Lara Williamson, and Jess Fritze and was based on a series of roundtable discussions with representatives of state and local governments and community and environment-focused non-government organisations, in collaboration with the Victorian Council of Social Service (VCOSS) and the Council on the Ageing Victoria (COTA Victoria). Roundtable participants discussed the ways environmental advocates are engaging the communities they work in, helping to inspire action on climate change.
