University of Melbourne have announced a new airline deal with Emirates. The new deal will provide University of Melbourne staff significant discounts on all Emirates fares when booked through the universities preferred travel agents Campus Travel, Navigator Travel and QBT.
The deal applies to all fares covering Emirates 22 European destinations, the Middle East, Singapore and Auckland.
Emirates spokesperson Stephen Holl said that the airline operates three daily flights ex Melbourne to Dubai using their Airbus A340-500 and Boeing 777-300 aircraft with two direct services from Melbourne to Dubai and one service via Singapore to Dubai.
Emirates operate one of the most modern fleets of all the global airlines and by early April 2010, the airline will commence direct services between Melbourne to Dubai using the A380 super jumbo.
In May 2010, Emirates will add Amsterdam to their extensive list of European destinations and the airline recently increased their baggage allowances by 10kg across all classes to 30kg for economy, 40 kg for business and 50kg for first class.
For frequent travellers, Emirates Skywards and Virgin Blue Velocity loyalty programmes have reciprocal benefits allowing travellers the flexibility to earn and use points equally across both airlines.
