Welcome to VIVO & ANDS, a blog to keep updated with the work to create a redeploy-able meta data registry to feed Research Data Australia.
The ANDS VIVO project is a collaboration between the University of Melbourne, QUT and Griffith University. It aims to build a metadata store that can be easily adopted by research organisations.
VIVO supports direct data entry. Research data records can enter in directly into VIVO, and then linked via relational statements to existing people, grant, and organizational statements. Using semantic structures, records about people, grants, org units etc, can also be harmonized at a later date if required.
As an rdf triple store, VIVO naturally supports aggregating the metadata from multiple metadata capture projects. Workflow to take the output from a metadata capture and seeding the commons projects and push to VIVO are under development and built on a project by project basis.
This blog is authored by Simon Porter, project manager of the University of Melbourne’s Metadata Store project.
