ARTP in Master of TESOL and Modern Languages Education – Faculty of Education Open Day 2025
At this year’s Faculty of Education Open Day at the University of Melbourne, we showcased how our Master of TESOL (MTESOL) and Master of Modern Languages Education (MMLE) courses are grounded in Arts-Rich Translanguaging Pedagogy (ARTP).
Embedding ARTP in Our Courses
Our MTESOL and MMLE programs integrate ARTP principles throughout coursework and professional learning experiences. Future language educators are trained to:
- Engage creatively with students’ multilingual resources.
- Foster inclusive classrooms that value linguistic and cultural diversity.
- Design transformative language learning experiences through arts-rich and translanguaging pedagogies.
ARTP in Action: Open Day Workshop
As part of the program, visitors participated in an interactive ARTP-based workshop where they were invited to visualise the value of language education. Through drawing, storytelling, and creative arts activities, participants explored how languages can be used together as valuable resources for teaching and learning. The workshop demonstrated how ARTP embraces students’ full linguistic repertoires, celebrating multilingual creativity and connecting arts with language education.
