Faculty of Education Teaching Excellence Awards 2024
Congratulations to Associate Professor Yvette Slaughter, Associate Professor Julie Choi, and Dr Shu Ohki who recently won a Faculty of Education Staff Award for Teaching Excellence and Innovation for their teaching initiative, Embedding Plurilingual Perspectives in Languages and Literacies Education.
Plurilingual pedagogies seek to acknowledge the linguistic and cultural diversity of learners, and the role of lived experiences and knowledges in shaping meaning making, teaching and learning, and identity development. Embedding Plurilingual Perspectives in Languages and Literacies Education built on this team’s long-term research initiatives into plurilingual pedagogies in Australian schools, and partnerships with the Department of Education, alumni and lead teachers, teacher candidates, academic experts, as well as artists.
