Meet Your Committee Members

Welcome to the African Students Outreach program!

Our team is very excited about the events and mentoring schemes we have planned for this coming semester. We have a diverse set of members from across the continent studying in a variety of fields:

Judy Too –  Ph.D. Candidate in the Faculty of Engineering and IT (Infrastructure Engineering)

Judy is a Kenyan currently pursuing a joint Ph.D. program in Engineering & IT / Management of Projects from the University of Melbourne and the University of Manchester. Drawing from her own experiences and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by African students, Judy is dedicated to building a sense of belonging and support within the university community. She believes that by cultivating a nurturing environment, African students can thrive in their academic pursuits and personal lives.

Nourehan Wahba – Ph.D. Candidate in the Faculty of Engineering and IT (Infrastructure Engineering)

Nour Wahba is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in the infrastructure engineering department. My research interests are mechanical building services, energy modeling, and building simulation. She has worked as a graduate mechanical engineer and BIM modeler. She is from Egypt and is passionate about arts, crafts, cooking, exploring cuisines, and traveling

Linda Kamau – Master of IT (CyberSecurity)

Linda Kamau is a first-year Master of IT student from Nairobi, Kenya with an interest in Cyber Security and a background in User Experience Design. Having worked and studied in the US for 6 years, she is aware of the many challenges international students face abroad and hopes to foster a wholesome space for Africans to commune. In her free time, Linda enjoys drawing, reading, and adventure video games. She looks forward to networking with other African students and professionals as well as organizing the activities we’ve got planned.

Alicia Okene – Bachelor of  Design (Architecture)

Alicia Okene is a third-year Nigerian architecture student with a passion for business, creative expression, and structure. She is thrilled to assist you in providing mentorship, opportunities for networking, and other auxiliary services to African students currently enrolled at the University of Melbourne

Aliyah Bashir – Bachelor of Science (Environmental Science)

Aliyah Bashir is a second-year Bachelor of Science student specializing in Environmental Science, hailing from Somalia. Alongside her academic pursuits, she has passions for reading and literature, traveling, along with a flair for fashion. One of her aspirations is to forge meaningful connections with fellow African students, offering her assistance and support in any way she can.

Ngaahule Phadziri – Master of Public Health (Epidemiology and Biostatistics)

Ngaahule Phadziri is a South African from the Venda tribe. She is deeply driven by the desire to enhance the holistic health and well-being of populations. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Health degree, specializing in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. During her leisure time, she enjoys embarking on road trips, hiking, and camping adventures with her family or friends. She finds joy in engaging in activities that foster strong social connections which is why she joined the African Student Outreach Program.
