- 2011 – 2015: Research leader of a major study of nutrient and sediment effects on seagrass in Port Phillip Bay funded by DSE (in collaboration with EPA, Monash University and SARDI).
- 2011 – 2015: Chief investigator on a study of the life-cycle of King George whiting funded by the Fisheries Research and Development Corporation and the Victorian Recreational Fishing Licence Grants (in collaboration with Fisheries Victoria, Monash University and SARDI).
- 2012 – 2013: Principal investigator on a Melbourne Water grant entitled, ‘Determining the specificity of fish-habitat relationships in Western Port’
- 2011 – 2013: Risk assessment on important Victorian marine assets including marine protected areas funded by the Victorian Environmental Assessment Council
- 2008 – 2011: Co-investigator in an Ecosystem modelling study of the performance of marine protected areas in Victoria
