Abstract: Our first HADES discussion panel will examine the intersections of mixed methods research and the diverse approaches required for different types of data. Our panel of data specialists come from the fields of computer science, sociology and history, and together they will discuss questions such as: What do we mean when we say ‘big’ and ‘small’ data, and does it differ between disciplines? How can we investigate complex data sets that may be quantitative or qualitative and sometimes both? What happens we apply diverse skill sets to data and its analyses, and what are the implications of this for ‘[inter]disciplinarity’?
