Join us in June, online or in person, for an opportunity to engage with Associate Professor Joanna Harnett, The University of Sydney School of Pharmacy, to learn from her years engaging with traditional, complementary and conventional medicine research and education.

A/Prof Joanna Harnett is a pharmacy educator with a background in naturopathy and a PhD in nutritional pharmacology. Her work fosters appropriate and safe use of evidence-based complementary medicine high quality professionally relevant education. Her research interests include the relationship between the oral and intestinal microbiome and chronic conditions, drug-herb interactions, pharmacists’ role in appropriate use of complementary medicines, and naturopaths’ contributions to the clinical management of chronic conditions.
A/Prof Harnett serves on the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Advisory Committee for Complementary Medicines, and the board of the International Society for Complementary Traditional and Integrative Medicine Research.

We bring together academics and postgraduate students, from the University of Melbourne and partner institutes, interested in research or education related to practices or therapeutics described as holistic, traditional / indigenous, lifestyle-based, complementary or integrative (referred to as TCIM).
We aim to foster multidisciplinary collaboration and build strong, mutually beneficial relationships to encourage research engagement and continuous cross-disciplinary learning around TCIM.
