Roslyn spoke to us about how jobs in academia compare to jobs outside academia. Roslyn has worked in academic settings as well as for IBM Research. The points of difference that we touched on included:

 

• Differences in how performance is measured and work expectations.

 

• Differences in how jobs are advertised and the recruitment process.
  LinkedIn is an important profile to keep up-to-date, especially for jobs outside academia.

 

• Differences in applying for promotion, pay rises, bonuses.
