New CLIL research projects starting soon: Call for participants!

The CLIL Teacher Education Lab within LALE is commencing two new projects focused on better understanding how teachers approach CLIL in real-life practice.

  • Teaching Thinking in Victorian Language Classrooms (Ethics ID: 28415)
Developing students’ thinking skills is a critical part of teaching, but this is challenging when the content is taught in another language, like teaching Arts or Maths through Japanese or Italian. This project aims to explore how teachers foster students’ thinking, when taking a content and language integrated approach. If you would like to know more about this project, please contact the PhD researcher Xiaoqing Chen or the project supervisor, Prof Russell Cross
  • Integrating Language and Content across the Victorian Curriculum (Ethics ID: 29160)
Integrating language with other curriculum areas is crucial for CLIL, but when the curriculum assumes language and content to be separate learning areas this can be complex. This project aims to understand how different teachers navigate the curriculum to make various approaches to languages with content integration possible in their own settings. If you would like to know more about this project, please contact the PhD researcher Vincent Liang or the project supervisor, Prof Russell Cross

The Lab is keen to work with teachers to gain their insights to understand these challenges! Click the links above to find out more, and ways you can join the Lab to be part of either project.
