Acknowledgements
This project acknowledges the generous grant support of the Telematics Trust. It also received non-financial or earlier seed support from The Collier Charitable Fund, The Victorian Department of Education and Training, The University of Melbourne and The Melbourne Networked Society Institute (formerly The Institute for a Broadband-Enabled Society).
We are grateful to Geoffrey Warren of Clifton Hill Primary School and the Principals and leaderships teams at Huaibei Experimental Primary School and Huaibei #3 Experimental Primary School. We would also like to specifically thank Dr Sonia Fullerton and Susan Williamson. Thank-you to Edmodo for working with us to implement the Chinese language menu translation we created for them as part of the project into their school-friendly social media platform. Finally, we thank Justin Randle and James Garriock for their early support of the project.
Resources
Student interactions took place using the school-focused learning and social media platform Edmodo. This invitation-only platform allows teachers to set up student accounts, group them by class, and assign them tasks online. It also allows students to participate in monitored chat with each other, in their class groups or other defined groups (such as the Australian/Chinese student pairs used in this project)
Student self-efficacy surveys took place using the online questionnaire site SurveyMonkey
