European carp

European carp destabilise the Australian freshwater ecosystem, hindering both biodiversity and the Australian recreational fishing industry. Carp prey on and compete with native species, in addition to reducing water quality. This decreases native fish numbers to such an extent that 90% of fish biomass in the Murray Darling basin are carp. With carp being present in such overwhelming numbers in waterways in every state, it is more important than ever to find novel and effective ways of elimination.
