Formula One Racing – YES F1 – is helping to save babies. A great DATA STORY.

Formula One certainly gets a lot of bad press – especially in Melbourne! But here is a good news data story worth hearing (even if it is coming from the McLaren team). It is all about how the technology developed to monitor the slightest changes in data coming in from the F1 car during a race ensures a rapid response from the engineering team. Now with a car travelling at 240kph this split second response rate is really needed to ensure the safety of the F1 driver. Listen to Peter van Manen (McLaren Electronic Systems) on the TED video, explaining how small changes in data from neonatal monitoring in the clinical settings are being captured by adapting this same technology.
