Melbourne Engagement Lab: Upcoming Sessions for Staff
Publishing the Book of the Future
Where: Room G01 Ground Floor, Elisabeth Murdoch Building (Building 134)
Self-publishing used to be a self-indulgent last resort when no publisher would even take a second look at your book proposal, let alone consider publishing it commercially (self-publishing 1.0, if you like). But self-publishing has now been reborn in the digital age and self-publishing version 2.0 is a viable commercial alternative that allows the writer to wrestle back control from the publisher and communicate much more quickly and effectively to a targeted niche audience. This workshop will ensure participants are aware of all the exciting options available to them and look at planning the route from original idea to successful, self-published writing.
Presented by Mr Simon Clews, Director, Melbourne Engagement Lab, Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education.
So you want to give a TED Talk?
Where: Room G01 Ground Floor, Elisabeth Murdoch Building (Building 134)
A classic TED Talk is influential and, if done well, can be a game changer in your chosen field. But how do you give a good TED Talk without falling into the trap of sounding pat and formulaic? This workshop will look at how to deliver a successful TED Talk from choosing your topic to writing your script to giving the final presentation.
Presented by Mr Simon Clews, Director, Melbourne Engagement Lab, Melbourne Centre for the Study of Higher Education.
