GradChat: Perfecting your CV and Cover Letter (6pm) Join here

Want to improve your Cover Letter and CV to be more appealing to employers? Put yourself in the best possible position to find work! GSA understands how hard it is to effectively communicate yourself and what you can offer, so let’s work on this together! We are joined by representatives from SEEK as they offer informed guidance for what employers look for in Cover Letters and Resumes and how you can make sure they’re tailored right.

Graduate Researchers Orientation: Strategies for maintaining well-being (12.30pm-1.30pm) Register here 

In this session you will find out more about what well-being is, and what strategies can help you to maintain your own well-being throughout the candidature. You will also learn about resources and services available to you at Counselling and Psychological Services.

Join us online as we celebrate with other graduate researchers sharing their research through the Visualise Your Thesis competition. Come along to vote for your favourite entry in the Viewers’ Choice category!

Thursday 27 August

GradChat: Support for International Students (12.30pm) Join here

Have you been feeling isolated as an international student studying at UniMelb? We understand how tough it has been and we’re strive to offer our continued support. GSA will be joined by CAPS International Student Counsellor Yuyang Liu who will discuss what students can do to feel present and engaged while in isolation. There will be a focus on the support that you can receive throughout the community and with CAPS.

Graduate Research Workshop: Early Tasks and Considerations (2pm – 3.30pm) Register here

This workshop is intended for students in the early stages of their Masters by Research or PhD candidature. The workshop covers topics that represent the most important tasks of early stage candidature (pre-confirmation). The topics include:

  • Establishing first year goals and managing the initial stage of your candidature
  • Critically reviewing the literature and finding a place for your research
  • Refining your research questions/topics and establishing research methodology/approach
  • Developing an effective supervisor-student relationship
  • Joining the research community
  • Organising technology to assist productivity.

There will be time during the workshop for questions and answers.

Friday 28 August

Managing Research Impact and Online Engagement (1pm-2pm) Register here

This session will show attendees how to use online tools and software to measure business and economics research impact and online engagement.
