Visualise Your Thesis International 2025 Winners
The Library’s Scholarly Development (Research) team have been hard at work hosting the International final of the Visualise Your Thesis competition. The winner was announced on the VYT LinkedIn page on 21 October.
Congratulations to:
- Saraswat Basu (University of Queensland)
1st place (5,000 AUD prize) for Development Of A 3D Bioprinted Oral Mucosal Model - Sharyn Frantz (Swinburne University)
2nd place (2,000 AUD prize) for Disbelief, Grief or Relief? Examining the Psychological Impact of a Lipoedema Diagnosis in Australian Women - M Tadik Hasan (Monash University)
3rd place (1,000 AUD prize) for Signs of Change – Designing Hope for Deaf Mental Health
The judges also awarded an honourable mention to UniMelb’s own Sathiyamoorthy Mathushan for Molecular Dynamics in Gold-Based Nanoglasses: Glass Formation, Synthesis and Properties. The University of Melbourne local competition was hosted by the Researcher Development Unit.

Reel Impact Prize 2025 Winners
Congratulations to Dr Angela Nicholas and Dr Simone Scotti Requena (MDHS, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health) and Dr Veronique Paris (Faculty of Science, School of Biosciences) on being awarded the Reel Impact Prize 2025 for their respective entries Boys Do Cry and Stopping Buruli ulcer at the mosquito.
The winning submissions highlighted the critical role that research plays in addressing the complex questions and major challenges of our time, including Australian men’s health and the suppression of suburban mosquitos for effective disease control purposes.
The winners have each been awarded 8,000 AUD to collaborate with their choice of professional media storyteller to develop a new form of creative media output. The output will highlight the amazing impact that has been achieved through their research.
Stay tuned for details in the first half of 2026 for the premiere of their completed collaborations showcasing the amazing impact of their research.
