Learning Environments short films to premiere at State Library
During lockdown in 2020, The University of Melbourne’s Learning Environments team produced a series of eight short films that will premiere during Melbourne Knowledge Week.
In a series of eight short films, Respond presents the raw experiences of frontline healthcare workers during the pandemic, as captured by filmmakers during lockdown. Together, these shorts share a personal glimpse into the caretaker’s universe, revealing immense strength and vulnerability, while showing the impact COVID-19 has had on both the healthcare and film making industries.
Respond premiere at 7pm on 27 April, with all ticket sale profits going to the Royal Melbourne Hospital Foundation.
Following the premiere screening, the audience is invited to share their reflections online at the Digital Hub. Then, ABC Radio’s award-winning Libbi Gorr will host a Q&A discussion with a selection of filmmakers and healthcare workers, focusing on their experiences during filmmaking, their reaction to seeing the final films, and what has changed for them in the year since these films were made.
The conversation will continue on the Digital Hub, where The University of Melbourne creatives will share their responses to audience reflections from the event. These eight films will be available to view on the Digital Hub for the duration of MKW.
