MSPGH Teaching Seminar: 30th September 2015 – The future of international education in Australia – the challenge of sustainability and quality
12.30-1.30pm, Wed 30th September 2015
Seminar Room 515, Level 5, 207 Bouverie Street, Carlton
Mr Phil Honeywood, Chief Executive Officer, International Education Association of Australia (IEAA)
International education is Australia’s 3rd biggest export. There are more than 450,000 full-tuition, fee-paying international students in Australia, accounting for 20 per cent of all students enrolled in our higher education institutions. About three-quarters of all international students come from Asia, with China and India as the biggest markets. The federal government has established a National Strategy for International Education and in May this year the Productivity Commission released a paper on International Education Services. In this seminar Phil Honeywood will outline the current state of play in international higher education and reflects on the benefits and risks for universities in this dynamic and complex sector.
