The issue of low-value health care (LVC) is receiving unprecedented attention in clinical, research and policy circles. This presentation will touch on the state-of-the-science of how (i) low- versus high-value care is defined by various stakeholder perspectives, such as patients, clinicians, community members, and policy makers, (ii) developments have
progressed in the measurement of patient and provider level prevalence of low-value care within large healthcare datasets, and (iii) the design and implementation of reforms aimed at reducing waste and optimizing heath care safety and value, including the design and evaluation of alternative care and payment models.
