CHE PhD Confirmation 27-Apr-2017: Effectiveness of lifestyle intervention programs for type 2 diabetes prevention in resource constrain settings

3:00-4:00pm, Thu 27th April 2017
Seminar Room 515, Level 5, 207 Bouverie Street

Mojtaba Lotfaliany: PhD Candidate, Centre for Health Equity

It has been shown that the pragmatic lifestyle intervention programs can prevent type 2 diabetes.

However, there is not enough evidence showing their effectiveness in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) which are confronting an ever increasing burden of type 2 diabetes. This research aims to provide much-needed evidence about the effect of pragmatic lifestyle intervention programs in LMICs on the incidence of type 2 diabetes and other related risk factors, using datasets from two effectiveness trials that have been undertaken recently in India and Iran.
