The countries of the Asia Pacific region are ageing. Health systems are transitioning from a focus on infectious disease affecting mainly children and women to the conditions of older people with multi-morbidities for which long term management and palliative care are required. There is a need to coordinate medical care with long term care. This seminar will draw on case studies including from the Pacific island countries, China, Japan and Australia to consider the common patterns and contrasting responses.
