The Sámi community of Norway has evolved after the Second World War and become an integral part of the Norwegian welfare state where traditions, including emphasis on extended family, are still strong. In the First 1000 Days Sámi Grandparents are invited to meetings together with professionals to find out if grandparents have the time and opportunities to contribute, especially during their pregnancy.
