Seminar Room 515, Level 5, 207 Bouverie Street, Carlton
Professor David Studdert, Professor of Law and Medicine, Stanford University
The US has rates of civilian gun ownership that are far higher than in any other country and rates of firearm-related death and injury that are among the world’s highest. Evidence linking firearm access with elevated risks of death and injury has grown, but still has major gaps. We recently completed assembly of a cohort of 28 million residents of California; we track handgun ownership and death in this population over a 12-year period. This seminar will outline the project and share results from preliminary analyses.
