Peer review of teaching (PRT) is a common means of evaluating teaching quality at many universities worldwide, and it is increasingly becoming a requirement for academic confirmation and promotion. Despite the recognised benefits of PRT, it is often received with mixed feelings. How can PRT benefit university teachers? In this seminar, I will discuss the role of PRT in developing an academic teaching career and provide an overview of a whole-of-university initiative, The Melbourne Peer Review of Teaching Program.
