The Myths of Open Access and the role of the Australian Open Access Support Group

On November 8 Victoria University will be hosting a presentation from Dr Danny Kingsley, Executive Officer of the Australian Open Access Support Group (AOASG). Danny will revisit the five major myths surrounding open access to tackle misconceptions around quality, lack of peer review, pay-to-publish models and the challenges of the copyright context. As part of her role to advocate for open access, Danny will introduce the recently formed AOASG along with an update on Australian open-access developments around mandates and compliance, followed by an outline of developments in open-access monograph publishing. The presentation will conclude with questions and a short forum, allowing participants to raise issues around open access. Attendees are encouraged to come with questions and to share their experiences with implementing open access.

Time: Friday 8 November 2013, 9.30am-11.15am
Venue: VU, City Campus, Level 12, Function room 3, 300 Flinders Street, Melbourne.
