Your Cultural Commons: SWARM

Your Cultural Commons is a series of sessions form part of the Researcher Development Unit (RDU) Graduate Researcher Orientation, developed and delivered in collaboration with the Museums & Collections Department, UoM.

These sessions provide a welcoming, community-focused way for you to get to know the University campus. Each session runs for an hour, and includes an intimate tour of the current exhibition at one of several museum venues, hosted by one of the Museums & Collections Teaching Fellows (who are themselves current graduate students of the university).

The tour is followed by a convivial discussion with participants, and a coffee funded by the RDU.

Part exhibition, part experiment, SWARM uncovers the very essence of collective behaviour and questions what drives us to be social. From nanobots to native bees, superorganisms to social media, is it better to be part of a pack or go it alone?
