If you are yet to sign up, submit yours here and check out our previous post all about the competition for this year.

We have collated some information here to assist in providing some insight into what the judges are looking for.

Check out our FAQ – what are the judges looking for?  Entries will be judged against the criteria listed.

While 2022 will have a new group of judges, soon to be announced, who will have their own unique perspective, perhaps last year’s judges can provide a few insights that will assist you in the competition.

In 2021 Judges, Rose Hiscock, Dr Jen Martin and Dr Lauren Rosewarne highlighted that for them it came down to telling a story well.

Jen stated that they were “Looking for the story and looking for people’s ability to share that story for a general audience to not only understand but find it interesting. It is about making good decisions about what to leave out. I’ve only got a minute what is the barest bones I can use to make someone understand why I’m doing this, why it matters, where the value is, and either what I am trying to find out, or what I have found out. And with the visual component as well, how am I going to attract my audience to listen and be excited about this? – Dr Jen Martin

It is partly that idea of an elevator pitch. Getting across a complicated idea in plain language in minimal words but also how to use visuals as part of that story. – Dr Lauren Rosewarne

You can hear more about what the judges had to say about the 2021 winners at last year’s award announcement here.
