New Open Access Principles in 2023
This one-off webinar will explore the University’s revised Principles for Open Access to Research Outputs at Melbourne. It will be delivered by Dr Zachary Kendal, Scholarly Communications Specialist, and is open for all academic and professional staff, graduate researchers, and students.
Following development and consultation in 2022, and endorsement by University Executive and Academic Board in 2023, the revised Principles for Open Access have now been published on the Open Scholarship website. These Principles better reflect recent developments in the open access landscape and affirm the University’s commitment to disseminating its research as widely as possible to improve the public good.
Join us for an examination of the revised Principles, including:
- The call for immediate open access to journal articles and conference papers.
- The University’s supported pathways to open access:
- using repositories,
- publishing in open access venues,
- using open access publishing agreements, and
- publishing in venues implementing transformative open access models.
- How to implement a rights retention strategy.
- The University’s preferred open licence: Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY).
- The Principles’ alignment with the 2022 NHMRC Open Access Policy and Plan S principles.

Here Lives Our Culture Exhibition @ Baillieu Library 
Here Lives Our Culture 斯文在兹 explores cultural materials drawn from more than 20,000 items in the University of Melbourne’s Rare East Asian Collection. To reflect the experience of a traditional Chinese library, the exhibition is organised around the four-category system used in ancient China: Classics, History, Masters, and Literature. China has an extensive history of collecting and classifying books, and libraries have long sat at the heart of its cultural knowledge production. Inspired by the Analects of Confucius and encompassing materials from the seventeenth to the twentieth century, Here Lives Our Culture invites you to learn, share, and connect through our collections at the Baillieu Library.
本次斯文在兹展览的展品主要来自有着两万多件藏品的墨尔本大学图书馆东亚特殊馆藏。为了还原中国古代图书馆的样貌，本次展览按照经、史、子、集四部排列。中国古代有着悠久的图书收藏和分类的历史，而图书馆也一直占据着中国文化的核心。此次展览的主题来自《论语》，展品的时间跨度是十七至二十世纪。展览主办方衷心地希望能以我们的馆藏为依托，为您提供一个相互交流和分享的契机。
