Feature Friday: Radio Sci-Lens

This Feature Friday we’re proud to present Radio Sci-Lens, a radio show hosted on Melbourne University’s and student radio, Radio Fodder.

The show is hosted by three of our wonderful former students. They took our Science Communication subject last year, and noticed that the Radio Fodder line-up was missing conversations about science.

Kaih Mitchell is studying Master of Physics and loves experimenting especially if it involves lasers. Eilish Roberts is studying Master of Environment, majored in botany in undergrad and loves plants. Kate Huckstep is studying Master of Biomedical Science, researching addiction neuroscience. You might recognise some these names from previous Feature Fridays: Kate with their Curiosity Killed the Rat Podcast and Eilish with her Naturisms Youtube Channel.

Together, they come together as laser lad, botany babe, and neuro nerd to discuss a broad range of science topics for an hour! No previous science knowledge is necessary. They start off with weekly news, then each present a segment related to the weekly theme. If you listen carefully, you’ll also notice that the first song played is related to the theme. This week is all about scientists who experimented on themselves!

Radio Sci-Lens airs at 4-5pm every Friday, tune in via the Radio Fodder website to listen, or trawl their archive on Soundcloud. Get in touch via Twitter at @RadioSciLens!

Radio Fodder is part of The University of Melbourne UMSU’s Media Department – you can follow them on Twitter and Instagram @radio_fodder.
