Law Exam Reflection (Jim)
Hello people, i am going quite well. with this post, just want to share my thinking on preparing law exams. (might be helpful for general exam preparation too)
Holiday is goin quite well too, going ot skiing with the uni skiing club, that will be super fun.
Problem Improvement needed
Legal theory:
Ran out time for exam preparation. Always planned for too much.
Actually did not plan my revision activities properly for the last 2 days of LT revision.
• Spend too much time on history. (should have get 2 friends in that subject) share notes
• But it was a Difficult choice to make? Haven’t done revision fully. (ie the linking parts were not even finished for any major legal theory topics; knowing I could not guess any topics?
Seems to not do well in the written exam. (exam performance not reflect how much I learn)
• Answers: there is holes in my argument. Eg the sov state of exception link to rule of law=give problem, I need to explain why
• Only learn a bit of stuff? Actual specific goal. Priority. Think roughly how much time can spend on it.
Solution to problems
Must keep up today!!!!!!!!!
Perhaps just concentrate on roughly linking the ideas? ( PRACTICE WRITING THE LIMITED IDEAS: THAT IS THE KEY) IT IS LIKE PRACTICE IN THE REAL WORLD: MORE EFFICIENT?
In the essay I can identify which part of knowledge I need or not need. easier
SHOLD HAVE FOLLOW MY : “TO DO” EXAM REVISION PLAN.
Random study group doesn’t really work. I can help ppl but can’t really spend time doing it during swapvac,
Study group: must planned ahead for what to do.
trying to rely on ppl. This is a bad habit. Independent thinking.
Not enough confidence in revising; not concentrating properly.
Actually needed to hear the hints the teacher is giving. Familiarise with the rule of law value in exam revision. (I should hav planned some argument for that)
Keep helping ppl. It is fun and I can be their good friends

Ideal PLAN: do the basic things; keep up and revise through the term.
Obligation problems
(I perform very well for the exam at least I finish and understand all basic)
But maybe a bit superficial. But it is under exam condition improvement
Think: I spend too much time on reading & making notes? Could have just focus on hypo ?? I think all notes make sense. CAN I RELY JUST ON THE HYPO. NO:
• Don’t think so. I can get the context.
• AT THE END OF THE DAY, I HAVE TO PRACTICE MY READING/ANALYSTICAL SKILL. THEREFORE HAVE TO READ THE CASES: NO SHORT CUT. (REMEMBER?)
• IT IS TRUE I DON’T HAVE TO READ THE DISSENT, ALSO OTHER OLD PRINCIPLES. BUT MUST READ THE DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE CURRENT PRINCIPLE
The task is to repeat and use that principle
• Vs : but I only need to familirise with a ver specific and short rules. Only need to read re. that section. Roughly. To feel the exact KEEP UP TO DATE. THEN I WILL HAVE MORE TIME.
PERHAPS STUDY GROUP: DIVIDE UP & PREPARE FOR EACH TOPIC. It does take a bit long.
