Back in the AUS (Georgie)
As usual, I have chosen procrastination over being productive and have ended up on facebook (played that travel knowledge game, which is very addictive) and reading old posts on this blog, which is very interesting mind you.
I am officially back from the Philippines – and what a trip! I cannot begin to explain the generosity and kindness I was shown while I was over there. I remember when I came back from London at the start of the year thinking how friendly Australian’s were compared to Londoners, but we have nothing on Pinoys! They are so crazy friendly and funny and happy and generous, the friends I made over there really made my trip.
I got to go caving in this small mountain town of Sagada, which was so dangerous, but thrilling. And then, I was lucky enough to go to Banaue to see the amazing Rice Terraces – Gianina, you’re right, they are truly deserving of the title 8th Wonder of the World, they were insane!
It was a little odd on the last night as I went to Makati with some friends for dinner. Makati is the wealthy area of Manila, sort of like the Docklands in Melbourne – I’m sure you have a better simile Gianina. And for two weeks I had seen very few Westerners and then all of a sudden, there they all were in Makati! So it was strange not being the only white person around.
Flights home weren’t too bad. The fantastic guy that checked my bags in blocked out the seats next to me, so I had a spare seat from Manila to KL and then an aisle seat with three empty seats next to me on the longer leg from KL to Melbourne – so I could lay down!
Watched Inkheart – don’t bother – and Marley and Me, which I’ll admit, I did cry in.
It’s great to be home, but now I’m stressing a little about all the essays I have due so soon plus all the extra stuff I signed up for. And, I was lucky enough to get the committee position of Events Officer for Melbourne Uni 85 Broads – yay!
In other news, I am currently reading Giving, by Bill Clinton, which I sadly have to admit is quite boring and mainly a list of all the famous people he knows. I’m watching nothing! I haven’t watched much tv that recently, which is probably a good thing. I’m not listening to much either, I can’t find the charger for my mP3 player and I can’t work out how to plug in the stereo at home.
I think I have bored you for long enough now, until next time.
