Chapter Fourty-Eight: Frolicking in Davis Central Park (~jinghan)

Davis has quite a nice central park which I had time to look around and take photos while I was waiting to meet international students for “Fro Yo” (more on that soon!)

The carousel – more for looking at and the sake of historical heritage than riding on.

Weird swings that are really comfy to sit around in if you are tired from walking around the town, but not very easy to get good momentum on if you actually want to swing:

The tallest spiral slide in the world – I bet it’s not even legal to have a slide that all in australia, cause I don’t see any other reason why you wouldn’t want a slide that tall

And a (public?) vegetable garden – to promote sustainable growing. They’re big on sustainability in Davis; which makes sense because Davis has a really strong Agricultural history. Actually I found out that this is what people were referring to when they have “Go Aggies!” posters for sports events or have “Aggie Pride!” on their UCD Tshirt. Davis used to be the university farm and agricultural faculty for the UC Berkeley campus, but then i guess it got too awesome and had to be a university of it’s own right. Also, apparently there are cows on campus. I’ve got to find them and check it out.
