Chapter Twenty: In Case of Boredom (~jinghan)
Someone (a friend I think) came up with the phrase “study whore”, and it applied to me. Although I don’t get paid for it (studying, that is) I do indeed take to studying with a mercenarily vicious ambition, such that studying kinda takes over my life. I sat on my bedroom floor twiddling my thumbs. Now […]blogs.unimelb.edu.au/first-year/2010/06/15/chapter-twenty-in-case-of-boredom-jinghan

Chapter Nineteen: An Average Student (~jinghan)
I have found myself saying over and over to friends, "I feel let down by uni, I thought I would never have to study intensively again after VCE**! What a fool!" I say it in a light comical tone, but perhaps I mean it a little more than I care to admit. "But I love exams!" a uni friend had typed to me upon my whinging about never studying so intensively again. I knew what I was supposed to say, "you're crazy!" But what I felt was a little twinge of recognition. VCE had seemed to mean so much at the time, and I faintly recall that I enjoyed the study routine that I had developed by the end of the year...blogs.unimelb.edu.au/first-year/2010/06/12/chapter-nineteen-an-average-student-jinghan

"I hope you're happy in the end" (Pris)
I’ve had an epiphany. A bad one. At a bad time. I think this is bad. I don’t think I like my course. I like uni. I like the people and the environment and the freedom (although, I am beginning to miss structure. I’m such a procrastinator!). I like the campus and the city. I […]blogs.unimelb.edu.au/first-year/2010/06/09/i-hope-youre-happy-in-the-end-pris

Hey there fellow procrastinator! (Rinaldho)
Ok, so we’re two days into the exam period, and I seriously doubt that I am the only one who would agree that uni would be so much more fun without assessments… I just cannot find any sort of motivation to do any form of constructive studying, this is presently being illustrated by the fact […]blogs.unimelb.edu.au/first-year/2010/06/09/hey-there-fellow-procrastinator-rinaldho

How Not To Do Swotvac: A Cautionary Tale (Cara)
My name is Cara, and I’m a stressoholic. Welcome to my Swotvac. I’m currently wrapped in a blanket and perched in a tiny room on the second floor of my college which contains nothing but four squashy armchairs, a heater, and a keyboard. Peering down into the quad, I feel secure and hidden away. In […]blogs.unimelb.edu.au/first-year/2010/06/04/how-not-to-do-swotvac-a-cautionary-tale-cara

Chapter Eighteen: Exhaustion (~jinghan)
The final week of semester one is over, and anyone who has read my posts probably think I’m surfing a wonderful new life style, but just as the semester finishes… I’m exhausted. All the new people. The new style of studying. the new life style. The new expectations. All the people I don’t see much […]blogs.unimelb.edu.au/first-year/2010/05/29/chapter-eighteen-exhaustion-jinghan

Peskipiksi Pesternomi (Cristina)
The title has nothing to do with this blog. Although if you get the reference, you may allow yourself three cookies. SO what to say? Well, last Wednesday, Jinghan and I both attended a bloggers/transition volunteers lunchamadoodlemathankyouthingamabobbie. Neither of us knew that the other was attending, so it was cool to finally meet, and I […]blogs.unimelb.edu.au/first-year/2010/05/24/peskipiksi-pesternomi-cristina

Chapter Seventeen: The Facebook Connection (~jinghan)
“Hi, do you have an email address? I’m trying something crazy and daring: life without facebook. Wish me luck. Jinghan.” I send this message to a dozen facebook friends that I don’t have the email address off – most of them people I’ve met since uni started. It is safe to say that facebook has […]blogs.unimelb.edu.au/first-year/2010/05/22/chapter-seventeen-the-facebook-connection-jinghan
