How Do We Work with Narrative Analysis?

Our first event on narrative took place in November 2016 as a one-day seminar. In the morning we had two keynote speakers, Professor Julie McLeod (University of Melbourne) and Professor Alistair Thomson (Monash University).

Julie spoke about everyday narratives and how they play out and can be traced in longitudinal, qualitative research, based on her project Making Futures, while Alistair spoke about narrative and memory in oral history, based on his project Australian Lives.

In the afternoon we held a workshop where Ashley and Signe gave an overview of different approaches to narrative analysis and workshop participants then worked with a case study as well as their own projects.

The great attendance and positive feedback from the participants prompted us to seek out opportunities for establishing a formal network with regular events.
