Graduate Researcher Library Support

The University of Melbourne library is here to support you on your research journey. We have collated some of the core graduate researcher resources and initiatives provided by Student and Scholarly Services below.

The Researcher@Library program provides resources to develop your library research skills and digital capabilities as a researcher – from database searching, managing references, bibliometrics to publishing strategically.

We recommend watching Getting Started with Advanced Library Research, a series of 8 short videos to assist with getting started with library research. Essential for graduate research students and academic staff who are new to the University of Melbourne- click on the button below to explore.

Keep an eye out for webinars throughout 2022, we recommend registering for Getting Started with Advanced Library Research, Open Access and Your Thesis, File Management 101, Choosing Where to Publish HASS and STEMM.

Managing Data @Melbourne is the University’s online research data management training program. It consists of six short modules, which outline the fundamental practices of good data management.

Re:cite is your one stop shop for information on reference management. Including referencing styles, referencing software, guides and tutorials, and FAQs.

The copyright office has a wealth of information available. A must read is Copyright and your thesis.

Academic Skills provide resources on communicating research, specifically designed to navigate the complex demands of your graduate research degree. Including writing a literature review, writing a research proposal, and presenting your research.

University librarians maintain a series of online guides to the research resources and tools of the University of Melbourne Library. We recommend checking out LibGuides for Advanced Researchers

Under the Researcher Connect banner is a series of events and resources to develop researcher’s knowledge in digital research tools and skills. Sign up for a digital skills training session and keep an eye out for future events.

Visualise Your Thesis is a competition specifically for graduate researchers that challenges you to present your research in a 60 second, eye-catching digital display. Using a template, entrants develop a striking looped presentation to encapsulate their research projects in short, engaging, digital narratives. Check out past entries on Figshare, the University of Melbourne’s data repository. Interested in participating, more information about the 2022 competition will be available soon.
